Influences

There are many artists, photographers and film-makers that influence my work.
The below list is a developing one and will more then likely change over time as my work evolves.

Caravaggio

Currently in the context of the art world, Caravaggio is my idol. His early work interests me especially and I believe that it visually relates to my own work very perceptively. The emotion of the characters in his paintings (usually himself) is very vivid and his use of light and shade is fascinating.

Peranesi

Peranesi is a complete contradiction to my work - his very detailed drawings and etchings and active state is overwhelming; yet I find it extremely beautiful and this busy theory would be a very exciting inclusion to experiment with in my work.

 Richter

I simply adore the work of Gerard Richter; the tenderness of the paint application alone in enough to seduce me into the reading of the painting. I love the ill-focused figures that he creates and this relates a lot to my own aperture altered studies that I have been working on. Movement again, is portrayed immensely in his paintings.

Richard Avedon

Richard Avedon was an American photographer-in-art. His work has so many beautiful qualities and includeds potraits, performance imagery, reportage, and fashion.
